About
Established in 2006 after collegiate ski racer Kelly Brush suffered a spinal cord injury during an alpine race at Middlebury College, the Kelly Brush Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in South Burlington, Vermont. The foundation has become a national resource for the spinal cord injury community, supporting adaptive equipment access and sports participation across the United States.
What It Does
The foundation offers individual grants for adaptive sports equipment—including sit-skis, mono-skis, and adaptive snowboards—and club grants for alpine ski racing safety improvements. Adaptive ski camps are hosted in partnership with organisations such as Challenge Aspen and Craig Hospital, and a peer-connection platform links the broader SCI community.
Who It Helps
The Kelly Brush Foundation primarily serves individuals with spinal cord injuries who wish to participate in adaptive alpine skiing and other outdoor sports. Equipment grants help cover costs that can reach thousands of dollars, removing a major financial barrier for injured athletes seeking to return to winter recreation.
