About
Founded after Kelly Brush sustained a spinal cord injury at an NCAA alpine ski race in 2006, this Vermont-based 501(c)(3) has grown to distribute nearly $1 million in annual grants. The foundation also funds ski racing safety improvements and hosts community camps for adaptive winter athletes.
What It Does
Two grant cycles per year offer individual awards (up to $5,000) for adaptive sports equipment including monoskis, sit-skis, racing chairs, hockey sleds, and handcycles. A separate club grant stream funds safety equipment improvements at ski racing programmes nationwide.
Who It Helps
Adults and young adults with paralysis from an acquired spinal cord injury who are seeking financial support to purchase adaptive sports equipment enabling participation in skiing, hockey, cycling, and other active pursuits.
