About
The National Ability Center (NAC) was founded in 1985 and is based at Park City Mountain Resort in Utah. Operating year-round across winter and summer seasons, the NAC serves more than 4,000 individuals annually and is widely regarded as one of the most comprehensive adaptive sports centres in the United States.
What It Does
Winter programmes include adaptive alpine and Nordic skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing using a wide range of adaptive equipment including sit-skis, bi-skis, and outriggers. Summer programmes span adaptive cycling, water sports (kayaking, water skiing), rock climbing, archery, and equestrian activities. The NAC also runs youth leadership camps and serves US military veterans and families of active-duty service members. Financial assistance is available.
Who It Helps
Children and adults with physical, cognitive, sensory, and developmental disabilities — from first-timers to competitive para-athletes. Programmes serve autism, visual impairment, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, and many other conditions. Located at Park City, Utah, with summer programmes at additional sites.
