About this resource

About

Beginning in 1978 with fifteen children on the slopes of The Summit at Snoqualmie, Outdoors for All incorporated as a nonprofit the following year—originally called the Ski for All Foundation. Today the Seattle-based organisation delivers year-round adaptive recreation to hundreds of participants across the Pacific Northwest.

What It Does

Winter programmes include adaptive ski and snowboard lessons at The Summit at Snoqualmie and Stevens Pass, with sit-ski options for participants who use wheelchairs. Cross-country sit-skiing is available for building upper-body strength and endurance. Year-round programming spans cycling, kayaking, equestrian activities, and more.

Who It Helps

Outdoors for All serves children and adults with physical disabilities, cognitive and developmental disabilities, and sensory impairments. Sit-ski and cross-country sit-ski programmes are particularly suited to participants with paraplegia, balance difficulties, or bilateral lower extremity amputations.
