About this resource

About

The PlayStation Access Controller was launched by Sony in December 2023 after years of co-development with disability gaming experts and players with disabilities. It is Sony's first dedicated accessibility controller for the PS5 and represents a major commitment from a major console platform to gaming inclusion.

What It Does

The Access Controller is a round platform with a large central button and six configurable buttons around the rim. All buttons and analogue stick positions can be remapped via PS5 settings. Swappable button caps (flat, domed, pillow) accommodate different grip styles, and the unit can be mounted on a stand or wheelchair. Multiple controllers can be paired and used together, allowing one player to use two units or two players to share a single game controller.

Who It Helps

PS5 players with physical disabilities, limited mobility, single-hand use, or motor control challenges who cannot use a standard controller comfortably. Compatible with all PS5 games and requires no additional software beyond the PS5 system update.
