About this resource

About

Turning Pointe Autism Foundation was founded in 2008 in Phoenix, Arizona by families of children with autism who wanted to give their children the experience of dance. The foundation has since expanded its curriculum model to partner studios across the US and internationally.

What It Does

Turning Pointe provides a structured dance curriculum specifically adapted for students with autism spectrum disorder, delivered through trained partner dance studios. Classes are sensory-friendly — with predictable routines, reduced visual clutter, and noise management — and focus on joy, social development, and physical coordination rather than performance goals. The foundation trains dance educators in autism-inclusive teaching methods.

Who It Helps

Children and adults with autism spectrum disorder who want to experience dance in a safe, adapted environment. Parents and caregivers looking for inclusive arts enrichment rather than specialised therapy. Use the studio locator to find a Turning Pointe partner near you.
